ERASMUS FOR YOUNG ENTREPRENEURS – Columbus 10

 

Project COLUMBUS– The opportunity to build entrepreneurial experiences for young entrepreneurs abroad – EU.

Project COLUMBUS offer to young entrepreneurs a chance to accumulate business experience in established companies abroad, and enable expert entrepreneurs to host young entrepreneurs from abroad and share their experience with them.

This project aims to help young entrepreneurs to acquire relevant skills to manage their own businesses, by working with experienced entrepreneurs in other EU country for a period of 1 to 6 months and offers to experienced entrepreneurs to help and to share their experience with young entrepreneurs and take advantage of opportunities and ideas that young entrepreneurs bring with them.

How does the programme work?

New entrepreneurs travel to another EU country and spend time working with an experienced entrepreneur in his SME. On the other hand the experienced entrepreneur is hosting a new entrepreneur from other EU country. The matching of the new entrepreneurs with the host entrepreneurs is carried out with the help of intermediary organizations.

Who can participate?

New entrepreneurs and experienced entrepreneurs. Someone who is firmly planning to set up his or her own business or has already started a business within the last three years is considered a new entrepreneur. Experienced entrepreneurs should own or manage an SME in the EU.

What does the programme offer?

It offers to new entrepreneurs the possibility to work for up to 6 months with an experienced entrepreneur in his/her SME in another EU country.

The new entrepreneur will gain relevant start-up and SME management knowledge from the experienced host entrepreneur about the following areas:

• Critical success factors,

• Effective planning,

• Financial and operational management,

• Development of innovative products & services,

• Successful sales and marketing practices.

 

New entrepreneurs will also have the possibility to find out more about:

• European commercial law and the single European market,

• European standardization,

• European support for SMEs.

Project COLUMBUS is financially supported by the program “Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs” , which encourages the mobility of young entrepreneurs in Europe.

The programme is financed by the European Commission and operates across the EU with the help of more than 100 local, regional or national intermediary organizations competent in business support (e.g. Chambers of Commerce, business support organizations, start-up centers, etc.). Their activities are coordinated at a European level by EUROCHAMBRES, the Association of European Chambers of Commerce and Industry, which acts as Support Office.
