The aim of the project is to promote the EuroVelo 8 route (Cadic-Athens) of total 5.888 km length; the route passing also through the territory of Slovenian Coast. Important goal of the project is to improve the network of service providers for cyclists; with better tourist’s offer as with establishment of tourists information points and network of services and bike repairs centers. The purpose of the project is the implementation of joint international activities to promote and communicate with an emphasis on the development of tourism products and packages for cyclists in areas that take place along the route EuroVelo 8. Among other things, it is envisaged to set up a common website for the purposes of informing and promoting public-private partnerships for an effective integration of businesses related to the tourism sector.

The project aims to attract tourists to our territory and to offer this territory as attractive and friendly for cyclists. Other activities to be implemented will also contribute to greater efficiency already pledged measures to improve the network of tourist offer.

So far partners identified and collected many of service providers for cyclists in their areas and have made proposals of tourists packages for cyclists. For the area of the Slovenian part of the route EuroVelo 8 we prepared two tour packages, one of which includes connection with Italy and Croatia. Both packages were transmitted in the assessment to the European Cyclist Federation in Brussels, which will review them and will give suggestions for improvement. The final packages will be presented on the European website EuroVelo 8, which will be prepared by European Cyclist Federation with the collaboration of all partners. Regional Development Centre Koper also encourages stakeholders and policy makers to commit to the earliest possible establishment of a joint tourism management structure for the Coastal and Karst area.
