A day later, on 23 May 2024, the participants visited some of the watercourses in Slovenian Istria and came across interesting and &#8216;beautiful&#8217; built structures in the middle of the forest.<\/p>\n<p>The increasing frequency of extreme weather events, especially in the context of current climate change, has made accurate and effective planning of torrent control works an essential tool for preventing geo-hydrological risks. This type of risk knows no administrative boundaries, which is why, in vulnerable territories such as Italy and Slovenia, the adoption of common strategies to improve the management of watercourses and to protect infrastructure, property and lives is of paramount importance.
