TORRENT Project Presented for the Second Time at the EGU Conference in Vienna

The results of the Interreg VI-A Italy-Slovenia Programme TORRENT project were presented at one of Europe’s leading geosciences events, the European Geosciences Union General Assembly 2026, held in Vienna from 4 to 8 May 2026.

During the scientific session HS9.6, entitled Sediment Dynamics and Watershed Management under Environmental and Climate Change, members of the TORRENT research group presented the results of field surveys and activities carried out in pilot basins in Italy and Slovenia. The presentations focused on the use of remote sensing techniques and the application of the Maintenance Priority Index (MPi), aimed at improving the management of hydraulic and forestry infrastructure in the cross-border area.

The session was organised by Sara Cucchiaro from Università degli Studi di Udine and Vesna Zupanc from Univerza v Ljubljani.

By fostering cooperation among research institutions and applying advanced monitoring methodologies, the TORRENT project contributes to more effective watershed management and adaptation to environmental and climate change in the Italy-Slovenia cross-border area.
